The record-breaking technical glitch

Cricket has undergone a lot of evolvement ever since it was first played. Technological advancement has brought about so many changes in the game. From bowlers’ speed to batters’ bat swing, everything can be tracked these days.

Despite the advancement, technology can be wrong often times. In fact, there have been  several instances when a technical error has been observed.

A recent example of such a technical glitch occurred during a T20I match between the India Women and England Women Cricket teams on Saturday (10 September).

During the match, the speed gun showed England pacer Lauren Bell bowling a 172kph delivery. It was during the first ball of the first over of India’s innings where Smriti Mandhana cautiously defended the delivery from Bell and the speed gun showed the speed of the delivery as 107 mph/172 kph.

England women register an easy win

As for the match results, the England Women registered a rather easy victory by nine wickets despite playing without a few of their main players.

India posted a measly 132/7 in their 20 overs while batting first. Smriti Mandhana, Deepti Sharma and Harmanpreet Kaur Scores in the 20s from to help India post a decent score.

However, it wasn’t enough as the England Women chased it down with seven overs to spare.

Sophia Dunkley starred for England scoring an unbeaten 61 off 44 balls. Danielle Wyatt (24 off 16) and Alice Capsey (32* off 20) also helped England’s. However, it was Sarah Glenn who was named the player of the match for her 4/23.
