Veteran British Tennis player Andy Murray could not hold his tears back as he made a triumphant return ahead of this year’s Wimbledon championship at the Queen’s Club 2021

Andy Murray Injury
Andy Murray has been out of action for a while now as he underwent a hip resurfacing operation apart from several niggles, impeding his hopes of returning to the sport. In addition, he recently pulled out of the French Open to be fit for the grasscourt season.
The match against Benoit Paire was the two-time Wimbledon champion’s first grasscourt encounter since 2018. Murray was forced out of action for the past two seasons and had not featured in the ATP tour since Rotterdam 14 weeks ago.
He had also won both of his encounters against Paire, including their Wimbledon clash in 2017. Furthermore, his last grasscourt match came back in 2018 while his last match witnessed a loss against Russia’s Andrey Rublev in March. The 34-year old’s previous wining game was against Japan’s Yoshihito Nishioka at the 2020 US Open.
Andy Murray Left In An Emotional Conundrum After Queen’s Club 2021 Win
Andy Murray admitted that his body feels old; however, he was able to cope up with the movements. He acknowledged that for competing, people put in all the hard work and that the last few years haven’t transpired according to his plans. However, he felt great to return to action again.
“I love playing tennis. Sorry. Obviously, competing is why you put in all the hard work. The last few years I have not got to do that as much as I would have liked. Great that I’m out here and able to compete again,” he said in the post-match press-conference.

The British star has won the competition on a record five occasions – 2009, 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2016. Murray’s win over Paire sets him up for the second-round clash against Italy’s Matteo Berrettini, who is the tournament’s top seed. Berrettini, who crashed out in the quarter-finals against Novak Djokovic in the Roland Garros 2021, beat fellow Italian fellow Italian Stefano Travaglia 7-6 (5), 7-6 (4) in the Queen’s Club first appearances for both the players.
