Argentina’s goal-keeper, Emi Martinez was in electric touch as his gripping penalty save took Argentina to the showpiece final
For the last couple of season’s Emiliano Martinez has risen in stature as a goal-keeper. The Argentina based shot stopper was one of the most impressive figures in the Premier League last season with him going onto accrue a string of saves.
Departing Arsenal after failing to get a look in despite impressing in the tailend of the 2019-20 season, Martinez decided to was best to scour for greener pastures. And his showings at his new side left Arsenal supporters ruing the talent they have let slip of.
Those supporters will be beating themselves today after Emi Martinez’s triple penalty save in the Copa America. Argentina who took on Colombia in the second semi-final of the South American tournament saw the tie go down to penalties after Colombia managed to cancel out a Lautaro Martinez strike.

And Martinez upped the ante when it mattered the most as he parried away penalties from Davinson Sanchez, Yerry Mina and Edwin Cardona to take Argentina to a 3-2 win in penalties.
However, the most notable was that of Yerry Mina as Mina and Martinez squabbled before the Colombian defender stepped up to take the penalty. Martinez judged correctly, diving to his left to stave the effort ensuing which he thrusted himself in Mina’s face.

“I’m speechless,” said Argentine keeper Martinez. “They took us to penalties and that’s a question of luck, today it was my turn for glory.”
Martinez’s man of the match display was another testament to the sprawling skill set he’s endowed with. His efforts saw Argentina extend their unbeaten run to 19 ties with the side last tasting defeat in the semi-final of the 2019 edition of the Copa America to Brazil.
Argentina now have the perfect opportunity to avenge that defeat when they come across Brail in the showpiece summit clash of this edition of the Copa America.
