A viral video of a woman, identified as a doctor and daughter of an ex-IAS officer, shows her going on a rampage and smashing diyas (earthen lamps) at roadside stalls on Diwali with her name now known

The shocking incident occurred in Patrakarpuram in Lucknow’s Gomti Nagar. Following the ghastly incident, the Uttar Pradesh Police on Tuesday registered a non-cognizable offence against the woman.

In the video, viewers can see the bystanders gathering around her in a crowd and simply watching her perform the upsetting act. Others were filming the whole incident on their phones.

How It Happened

According to reports, the woman was not happy at the sight of the diya stalls set out outside her house. She had initially warned the diya sellers to remove their stalls outside her house.

Angered at the sellers when they ignored her, she decided to take other measures. At first the woman allegedly poured water on the diyas before going rogue and breaking the stalls.

The damage has incurred heavy losses to sellers who earn meager amounts by selling lamps during the festival of lights – Diwali.

The barbaric woman used a cleaning wiper to smash the diyas, which the sellers decorated to sell.

Woman Identified As A Doctor And Daughter Of Former IAS

According to further reports on the issue, authorities have identified the woman as the daughter of former Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Shankar Lal’.

The woman has also been identified as a doctor by profession.

Stall Vendors State Their Pleas And Vent Their Disappointment

Following the incident, local stall vendors condemned the woman’s actions, stating that they have been putting up shops to sell diyas and other puja ingredients on Diwali for several years now.

The sellers also stated their disappointment bystanders who did nothing as the woman committed the shocking act.

The UP police have registered a non-cognizable offense against the woman following her outrageous actions towards the vendors.
