Manager Erik ten Hag commented on the player’s injury following the game, saying, “We need to wait 24 hours, but it is not looking very good.” Images taken later reveal Van de Beek’s knee bowed when it was forced backwards, raising the possibility that he may have injured his ACL and may need to miss a lot of time with him potentially out for a month.
It seems to be serious for van de Beek.
Physical therapist Dr Rajpal Brar speculates that the midfielder may have hurt his posteromedial corner (PMC), posterior cruciate ligament (PCL), or medial collateral ligament (MCL). In the worst-case scenario, Dr Brar speculates that Van de Beek might have an issue with his ACL.
Stewart Gardner from MUTV asked him if there was any update on Donny, and he responded: “No, that is too rapid. The medical team must perform its duties while we wait for you to make the proper diagnosis. But it doesn’t appear very well. In addition to being bad news for Donny, what happened to him might also be bad news for Manchester United if it turns out to be a serious injury.”
Manchester United thrashes Bournemouth 3-0.
Manchester United defeated Bournemouth 3-0 thanks to goals from Casemiro, Luke Shaw, and Marcus Rashford. Erik ten Hag’s club is currently tied for third place in the Premier League with Newcastle in terms of points.
Halfway through the first half, midfielder Casemiro capitalised on a Christian Eriksen free-kick with a gorgeously cushioned volley to give Erik ten Hag’s team the lead. They enhanced their lead four minutes into the second half when Shaw, now playing left-back, capped a superb, fluid move by sweeping home an Alejandro Garnacho cut-back.
After receiving a feed from Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford completed the scoring by tapping the ball into an empty net, becoming the first player in Old Trafford league history to score in three straight games.
