The incident occurred outside in the Corniche area of Doha as preparations for the tournament’s first match were ongoing.

As the Argentinian squad and their fans gear up for Lionel Messi’s fifth and what could notably be his final FIFA World Cup, another Argentinian, TV reporter Dominique Metzger, got robbed while reporting live on air.
Argentinian Reporter Gets Robbed
A female Argentinian television reporter identified as Dominique Metzger was robbed while she was reporting on air. Dominique is a reporter for Todo Noticias (TN) and she was reporting on the World Cup live, in Qatar.
According to Dominique, she was carrying a decent amount of money and some few other crucial documents in her handbag when the robber (s) stole it. Dominique was broadcasting from the Corniche area of Doha ahead of the tournament’s first match when she realized her items were missing.
Metzger stated to another TN reporter:
I had my small bags on me with all the things that one needs, my wallet, the key to our hotel room, some napkins.
When the TN reporter asked Metzger if she was dancing, she replied:
Yes, I was dancing with the crowd, and I am convinced that It was at that moment when someone opened the bag zipper and took my wallet
Metzger further added that the atmosphere was very loud, as there was a lot of music playing around. And since she was busy with the live reporting, she did not notice the pickpocketing.
The Martin Fierro Cable Award winner confirmed that the robbery took place before the opening game of the World Cup. The first match of the tournament saw the hosts Qatar lose 2-0 to Ecuador.
Metzger Told She Could Choose The Punishment
Meanwhile, Metzger while speaking of the incident, said that she got a surprise response form the local police when she reported it to them.
While informing her network, Todo Noticias (TN) about the incident, she stated that the police officials apparently promised to identify the suspects and would allow her to choose the punishment for the alleged robber(s).
