The new target of this online schooling is an IIT-Delhi professor Divya Dwivedi who questioned the history of Hinduism and said that Mahatma Gandhi helped create the concept of a “false Hindu majority.” Due to her contentious comments, she is currently receiving a huge backlash on social media.
The video in which she remarked these comments had gone viral on various social media platforms with many people trying to find out more about her and about what she said. So, let’s find out everything about what she said:
IIT-Delhi Professor Divya Dwivedi Made Comments On Hinduism And Mahatma Gandhi.
The remarks were made last week during a debate on television on NDTV by Divya Dwivedi, an assistant professor at IIT-Delhi who teaches philosophy and literature and is a co-author of a book on Gandhi.
During the debate, she targeted the history of Hinduism religion and present-day Hindu right-wing ideology, by saying,
Hindu Right is the corollary of the idea that India is a Hindu majority population and this is a false majority. The Hindu religion was invented in the early 20th century in order to hide the fact that the lower caste people are the real majority of India…
She added,
In fact, religious minorities have been a victim of this false majority and Gandhi has played a very significant role in its construction. He has helped construct a false Hindu majority and a new Hindu identity…
Discarding Mahatma Gandhi’s role in decreasing the social upliftment of lower-caste, she went on to say,
He (Gandhi) was one of the many upper caste leaders who constructed this origin for this polity but today we must discard it…
Why Was She Trolled?
With the aforementioned remarks, IIT-Delhi Professor Divya Dwivedi has made it plain how in-depth her understanding of Hindus and Sanatana Dharma is, as well as how much information she has of Indian culture, which she has been asserting boldly on a prominent media channel of the nation.
After a video of the argument went viral, the IIT-Delhi professor was immediately hauled out on social media, with many criticizing her qualifications and her position at the prestigious technical university.
