Diogo Jota pulled off a horrid miss as he shot way over a gaping open goal from three yards out in Liverpool vs Crystal Palace
Getting the nod once again as Roberto Firmino missed out for Liverpool with an injury issue, Diogo Jota found himself in charge of spearheading his team’s attack. And he had a sublime opportunity to net for his team, one which the Portuguese ended up squandering in abysmal fashion.

As Liverpool carved through the visiting team’s defense with ease, the hosts more than deserved a goal for their troubles. With Vincent Guaita only managing to parry away Fabinho’s header as far as the awaiting feet of Jota, the Liverpool man found himself with acres of space to tap the ball into with an open goal awaiting him from three yards out.
However, in an effort Timo Werner would be proud of, Jota managed to scuff his effort with him skying the ball well over the goal. It was a torrid miss, one which luckily Liverpool didn’t have to rue as they managed to cruise their way to a 3-0 win on the night.

The hosts despite being without the services of fullbacks Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andrew Robertson managed to not only close out Crystal Palace’s attacking players but managed to do enough to ensure they went top of the table. The win was wrapped up with a thundering strike from Naby Keita as his left footed volley in the 89th minute added to Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah’s goals previously.
Mane accrued his 100th goal in Liverpool colors with his strike seeing Liverpool capitalise on Manchester City’s sorry 0-0 draw on the day.
