After winning the Adelaide International tournament on Sunday, 21-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic is off to an amazing start in the 2023 season. The Serbian defeated Sebastian with a score of 6-7(10), 7-6(7), and 6-4 to secure his 92nd overall victory.

Despite having a leg injury, the former World No. 1 overcame Russian player Daniil Medvedev in the semi-finals before the summit match in Adelaide.

On January 7, during the Adelaide International tournament’s semifinal match, Daniil Medvedev appeared to make fun of Novak Djokovic’s leg injury.

The 26-year-old can be seen making fun of Djokovic’s injuries in a video that is nowadays viral on social media. After serving out the seventh game for a 5-2 advantage, Djokovic departed the court for an off-court medical timeout. In the first set of their Adelaide semifinal, he had previously hurt his left leg.

Djokovic addressed his leg trouble and said he felt great after the medical break after winning the match 6-4, 6-3 in two straight sets. The former world number one was quoted as saying by Tennis World USA:

Thankfully it was nothing too serious. If it was, I wouldn’t be able to continue, so I just tried with [a] medical timeout, some anti-inflammatories, and kind of settled in after a few games. “

Djokovic further said:

I was just trying to keep the momentum going and [not] allow him to break my serve”

Meanwhile, Before the 2023 Australian Open, Nick Kyrgios will be the opponent in Novak Djokovic’s first match at the Rod Laver Arena in two years.

The practice match against hometown favourite Kyrgios will begin at 6:30 p.m. local time on January 13 and tickets, which cost A$20, will go on sale on Tuesday, January 10 at 12 p.m. AEDT.

Craig Tiley, the director of the Australian Open, said he was looking forward to seeing the 21-time Grand Slam champion back in Melbourne following his victory in Adelaide and hoped for a similar response from the crowd.
