After a video featuring Nadia Boucher who is a coach at Dance Xpressions went viral, she is in the limelight. In the video, she can be seen excluding a biracial girl from group hugs at Connecticut Competition. The video was initially shared by the mother of the girl and later on received widespread support from netizens.

Who is Dance Xpressions’ director?
Dance Xpressions is owned and directed by Phyllis. Although she has training in ballet, tap, and hip-hop, her areas of expertise are jazz, modern, and lyrical. She has been teaching, performing, choreographing, and dancing for more than 25 years.
She continued her education at CCSU after starting her dance training at Miss Vicki’s School of Dance in Connecticut. After studying under instructors including Judi Tolomea, Sarah Franklin, and Kent Lindermer at the Hartford Conservatory in Connecticut, she later earned a diploma in dance pedagogy. After graduating, she was selected to take part in a teacher’s workshop led by Milton Meyers at the Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival in Massachusetts.

Phyllis has also been a part of the Annex Dance Company and performed at the Hartford Conservatory. She has completed a number of master classes and seminars, including ones at the Broadway Dance Center in New York. In addition to being the director of the dance department at Northwest Catholic High School and a co-owner of PK’s Dance Academy in Connecticut, Phyllis also taught and choreographed for the Hartford Conservatory, the Farmington and Avon Parks and Recreation Department, and other studios in Connecticut. Her desire to teach has been fuelled by all of her experiences.
Phyllis takes pleasure in sharing her experiences with her students in the classroom. She emphasizes the complete dance experience, not just the classroom experience. Phyllis is now pursuing certification from the Dance Masters of America.
