Cristiano Ronaldo slotted in a simple tap in to get a goal in his second debut for Manchester United

Named in Manchester United’s playing 11 for their Saturday afternoon match against Newcastle United, the frenzy couldn’t have gotten any higher as Cristiano Ronaldo stepped out infront of adoring home supporters for his second stint at Manchester United.

While he wasn’t massively involved in a slew of attacks during the first half against Newcastle United, Ronaldo managed to net. The goal which came right before the whistle was blown for the end of the first half saw Ronaldo get on the end of a Freddie Woodman save to tap the ball into a wide open net.

The Newcastle United goal-keeper had made a meal of a Mason Greenwood shot from distance, one which he was only able to parry away as far as an eager waiting Ronaldo. It was one of the simplest goals the Portuguese has scored in his illustrious career, one which opened his account in his second coming at the Premier League club.

Ronaldo was quick to break into his typical celebration as the goal saw Manchester United head into the break with a 1-0 lead in their kitty. While Ronaldo was fortuitous to score in the manner he did, the other new signing, Jadon Sancho didn’t quite have things swing in his favour with him enduring a horrid 45 minutes after being given a much needed start by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The goal for Ronaldo comes in the wake of him having become the leading international goalscorer in football during his time out with Portugal in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
