From 1999 until 2021, Jamaican cricketer Christopher Henry Gayle OD, also known as Chris Gayle, represented the West Indies in international matches. Gayle is known as “The Universe Boss” and is considered by many to be the best Twenty20 batter of all time. He was a key member of the West Indies squads that took home the ICC Champions Trophy in 2004, the ICC World Twenty20 in 2012, and the ICC World Twenty20 in 2016.

In all three of the game’s versions, he has established a number of records. He is the only player to score a triplet of hundreds, a hundred in T20Is, a double hundred in ODIs, and a triple hundred in Test matches and has the most caps for the West Indies in international cricket.
With an innings of 215 against Zimbabwe, Gayle became the first batter from West India to reach a double century in ODI cricket and later in World Cup history. In ODI cricket, his innings of 215 stands as the greatest individual score by a left-handed batsman to date.
With his 117 runs against South Africa, he not only holds the ODI record but also the best individual score of any West Indian in the T20 World Cup. In addition, his innings of 133 not out against South Africa in the 2006 tournament set a new record for the highest score by a West Indian in the ICC Champions Trophy.
Gayle was named a member of the ICC T20I Team of the Decade in December 2020. He was added to the West Indies team for the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in September of that year.
