Chris Gayle returned to form in traditional manner as he clobbered Zampa of three consecutive sixes in the West Indies vs Australia third T20
He had blown hot and cold for way too long, dwindling form which saw many question if Chris Gayle was truly of a spot in the West Indies setup. Age looked to be catching up with the opener with him enduring a lacklustre IPL 2021 as well.
However, the Universe Boss is known to silence his naysayers in style and that is exactly what he did. Stepping out to take on Australia in the third ODI of the series, Gayle came hot out of the blocks, tearing into Australiaโs bowlers.
He smashed a match winning 67 in 38 balls, an innings which saw him go berserk. He plundered Australiaโs bowlers, hitting 4 fours and 7 sixes on the night to become the first ever player to cross 14,000 runs in the process.
Chris Gayle Hits Adam Zampa For Three Straight Sixes
However, despite this notable achievement, the most noteworthy was of the three sixes he went onto clobber Adam Zampa for. The three successive hits came in the 11th over, typically colossal slashes at the ball which turned the years back.
Gayle who has gone onto accrue 1,000 runs since turning 40 will be 42 soon enough. And he doesnโt look to be stopping with the player all set to step out for his country at the ICC T20 World Cup later this year as he vies to add a third showpiece trophy to his kitty.
Powered by Gayleโs heroics, West Indies went onto pull off a third consecutive win in the series as well and with take the series home. The side is touted as outright favourites to win the world cup on November and the team has laid down a real statement of intent with its battering of Australia.

Gayle will be striving to emulate todayโs performance at the marquee event. Before that, heโll be looking to lead Punjab Kings charge in the second part of IPL 2021.
