Chetan Sakariya, a young Indian pacer, made his debut for Delhi Capitals (DC) on Thursday. He was named in the DC playing XI for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 season’s match no. 41 against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Sakariya came into the team as a replacement for injured pacer Khaleel Ahmed and made an immediate impact.

Celebration Caught Attention More Than The Wicket
When DC skipper Rishabh Pant requested him to deliver the second over of the match, he came through with the wicket of Aaron Finch on only the third ball of his spell.
While his effort to dismiss Australia’s limited-overs captain pleased cricket fans, his post-wicket celebrations drew a lot of attention, as he celebrated in the ‘Black Panther’ and ‘Goku’ styles. Sakariya began by recreating the ‘Wakanda Forever’ celebration from Marvel’s renowned sci-fi film Black Panther. He then came to a halt in his follow-through to posture in the style of the popular anime character Goku. Indian cricket fans were ecstatic to see Sakariya create such unusual celebrations, and they flocked to Twitter to show their delight.

DC Takes Advantage Of Chetan Sakariya’s Attempt To Dismiss Aaron Finch
KKR were 6/1 at the conclusion of the over thanks to the 24-year-stunning old’s delivery, which bolded Finch. The early breakthrough appeared to have paid off for DC, as Axar Patel took the second KKR wicket in the fifth over, removing Venkatesh Iyer. KKR were reduced to 37/4 after eight overs after being dropped to 29/2 at the end of the powerplay. Kuldeep Yadav struck twice in the eighth over, removing Baba Indrajith and Sunil Narine in quick succession.
Meanwhile, Sakariya’s eye-catching performance for RR made him one of the breakout stars in the 2021 IPL season. DC bought him for INR 4.2 crore in the IPL 2022 mega auction. Despite his outstanding performance in 2021, he had to wait until IPL 2022 to make his debut for DC. The DC bowling line-up is full of renowned pacers such as Khaleel Ahmed, Anrich Nortje, Mustafixur Rahman, and Shardul Thakur.
