Channing Crowder is renowned for his frank opinions, and after hearing that JJ Watt was leaving the NFL, he offered exactly that. The defensive end for the Arizona Cardinals revealed on Tuesday that he would retire from football after the conclusion of the 2022 campaign.

Things began to make sense when the 33-year-old went off the field crying as he looked at the crowd after playing the final home game of his stellar 12-year career. The three-time Defensive Player of the Year in the NFL announced his retirement on Twitter a few days later.

In a post that included a photo of himself and his wife Kealia standing on the field at State Farm Stadium while carrying their baby son Koa, he wrote, “Koa’s first ever NFL game. My final home NFL game. I have nothing except love and thankfulness in my heart.”

Crowder, the host of The Pivot podcast and a former line-backer for the Miami Dolphins, suggested that after Watt faces the difficulties of parenting, he may change his mind about retiring. It’s his explanation of why people have been still talking about it.

“When you arrive home, you learn what reflux and colic are. You learn about those early morning bottle wake-ups. You can’t pump since your wife is doing it; you just had the baby. When he goes home with his new baby, I believe, he might re-evaluate this retirement.” Crowder’s comments caused Clark to struggle against giggling uncontrollably.

Watt disclosed in October that he had experienced a serious health crisis earlier in the 2022 season. He disclosed that after going into atrial fibrillation, his heart had been jolted back to go back into rhythm.
