Watch Carson Briere caught on security camera throwing wheelchair down the stairs, video goes viral

A horrifying video that claims to show Carson Briere, a junior forward for the Mercyhurst University hockey team, dragging a wheelchair down a set of stairs has gone viral on social media

More than 26 million people have watched a viral tweeter video in which Carson Briere is seen kicking a wheelchair down the stairs. It appeared that the wheelchair belonged to a disabled student who needed to be “physically carried” to the downstairs restroom. The surveillance video was captured on Saturday, March 11, at 11:37 PM EST.

It’s difficult to picture Briere, who can be identified in the video by his white baseball cap, escaping this incident without consequences. He could be facing thousands of dollars in property damage. Briere, assuming this is him, should know better, especially after squandering his chance at Arizona State University years earlier.

Twitter furious over Carson’s immature behaviour

The spoiled teenager had been kicked off the team at Arizona State and transferred to Mercyhurst as a result of too much partying. This season, he played in 30 games and recorded five goals and eight assists (the Lakers lost to RIT in the AHA playoffs earlier this month).

Others may try to write this off as a drunken error done by an immature college student. This kind of cruelty calls for accountability, and many people on Twitter have criticized the deliberate attempt shown on a disabled person.

Here is some of the reactions.

Who is the father of Carson Briere?

Daniel Briere, Carson’s father, played 16 seasons in the National Hockey League. The pro played for the Philadelphia Flyers most of his career, and he helped on a Stanley Cup trip in 2010. Daniel, who is still employed by the Flyers’ front office, just replaced Chuck Fletcher, who was fired last week, in his role as temporary general manager.

Mercyhurst is yet to punish Carson.

Although handling a family dispute just days after being promoted to a tough job as Philadelphia’s top executive is about the last thing Carson’s father wanted. However, it remains to be seen how the team and university reacts. As of now, Mercyhurst reports that the situation is being looked into by both the school’s Department of Police and Safety and the Office of Student Conduct.
