Vanishing off the face of the Earth as she vanished up in smoke ever since her arrest in Russia, WNBA player Brittney Griner has once again surfaced. Having gone to the country to play basketball, Griner was detained after drugs were recovered from her with her in custody since.
And owing to the extremely precarious relationship between Russia and the US at the moment in the midst of the Russia-Ukraine war, Griner found herself in a pickle. Holed up in the country since February when airport security had discovered drugs in her carry on luggage, Griner will continue to remain behind bars for atleast two more months.
Brittney Griner Spotted In Moscow As Jail Term Is Extended Till May 19 In Russia
Pleading not guilty during her hearing on Thursday, Griner was ordered to stay in jail for another two months with her custody extended till May 19. Video footage showed the Phoenix Mercury center walking outside the Moscow courtroom with two female guards accompanying her. This is the first time the 31 year old has been spotted since her arrest a couple of weeks back.
She will now continue to remain in the country as the security agencies further investigate the misconduct as the US balks from aiding Griner.
