Brazilian footballer William Ribeiro has been arrested after his kick to referee Rodrigo Crivellaro in the head

Losing his marbles and going bonkers has ended up costing William Ribeiro massively. Not only has the incident seen his contract be terminated by his side but the player has been arrested as well after kicking referee Rodrigo Crivellaro in the head and knocking him unconscious.

William Ribeiro who played for lower-league Sao Paulo de Rio Grande went berserk after a decision failed to swing in his side’s favour in a fixture against Guarani de Venancio Aires. William’s pleas of a free-kick fell to deaf ears with the referee unmoved by the incessant claims by the side.

William went onto land two kicks to Crivellaro during the incident with the second catching the referee on the head, one which rendered him unconscious and saw the referee being taken to the hospital. Ribeiro was arrested inside the stadium itself.

While Ribeiro has since gone onto get bail, things are far from hunky dory for the player. Venancio Aires Civil Police Chief, Vinicius Assuncao has gone onto affirm that Ribeiro was being charged for murder. This isn’t the first time William has found himself involved in such mayhem with the miscreant having attacked a referee and player previously as well.

Sao Paulo club president Delvid Goulart has meanwhile confirmed that Ribeiro’s contract has been terminated by the side after the horrendous visuals which unfolded on the club’s 113th anniversary.

“We send all the apologies in the world to the injured referee and his family as well as apologising to the public in general for the lamentable scene seen today. The contract of the offending player is terminated. Furthermore, all possible legal measures in relation to the incident will be taken,” Delvid said.
