Brandon Travis Being Shot Dead By Mike Peake NMSU Basketball Player Video Goes Viral
Police say that Peake, a 21-year-old Aggies forward who was in town for NMSU’s basketball game against UNM, was “lured” to the area by a 17-year-old girl and several other male UNM students who wanted to beat him up over something that happened at the UNM-NMSU football game in October.
The video, which KOB 4 got, shows that Peake had a gun pointed at him before another man ran up and hit him with a baseball bat in the leg.
The clip shows that as Peake turned to run away from his attackers, he pulled out a gun and started shooting. Police say that he and Brandon Travis, who was 19, traded gunfire before Travis was hit and killed.

NMSU said earlier this week that he has been suspended from the basketball team indefinitely because of the fight.
In the meantime, two UNM students who were involved in the incident have been arrested and charged. There is still an investigation going on. The gun Peake used in the shooting was found with one of the Aggies basketball coaches. At a hotel in Albuquerque, according to the New Mexico State Police.
Peake’s bloody tablet was found in a backpack on the Aggies’ team bus as it was driving back to Las Cruces. Peake’s phone was found with the assistant athletics director in Las Cruces.
