BCCI President Sourav Ganguly and Secretary Jay Shah took on each other during the BCCI Secretary XI vs BCCI President XI showdown. BCCI Secretary XI opted to bat first with the Jay Shah led side scoring 128-5 from 15 overs with the side’s captain top scoring for the side with 40 runs. led by Jay Shah scored 128 for 5 from 15 overs. Sourav meanwhile took a wicket as he conceded 19 runs from three overs.
Set a target of 129, BCCI President’s XI ended up falling short by the barest of margins with the side slipping to a one run defeat. While Sourav scored 35 off 20 balls, his side were unable to navigate past Jay who ended up taking three wickets for his team while giving away 58 runs.
The contest at Eden Gardens also had Mohammad Azharuddin step out on the field who is a part of the working group looking into domestic cricket along with other BCCI officials.

The BCCI meanwhile decided that India’s tour of South Africa will go ahead later this month in the midst of the emergence of the Omicron COVID-19 variant. While the first test match will now take place seven days later, both the sides will lock heads in test matches and ODIs while the T20 series has been cancelled.
