With Julius Jones on the cusp of getting executed after being convicted of murder, Browns QB Baker Mayfield was unable to hold his emotions.
Baker Mayfield Tears Up While Talking About The Execution Of Oklahoma Man Julius Jones
Ever since the case has come to light, Mayfield has thrown his weight behind the Oklahoma man and has persistently spoken about how he didn’t agree with the death sentence Jones was given. However, with the concerned authorities deciding it was prudent to execute for his crimes, Mayfield was left in tears as the tap opened when he was asked to opine on the impending execution.

โItโs not something thatโs easy to talk about. Been trying to get the facts stated and the truth to be told for awhile now. Tried and tried. Itโs a shame that its gotten this far, weโre 24 hours away. Hopefully God can intervene and handle it correctly and do the things he needs to do,โ Mayfield said.
Jones was in 1999 convicted of the murder of Paul Howell who was shot in the driveway of his parents home. However, Jones has since remained adamant that he wasn’t guilty of the crime with him sticking to his stand of being set up by an acquittance who planted the gun used to carry out the murder in his home.
โAs God is my witness, I was not involved in any way in the crimes that led to Howell being shot and killed. I have spent the past 20 years on death row for a crime I did not commit, did not witness and was not at,โ Julius Jones said in his clemency report.
Russell Westbrook, Buddy Hield and Blake Griffin have all also publicly spoken about how they believe Jones to be innocent.
