At fault for Crystal Palace’s opener as he committed way too early to allow Wilfred Zaha to run into acres of space, Laporte ended up reducing the hosts to 10 men on day. His last man challenge resulted in him being shown a red card right at the tailend of the first half. Already down by a goal, City ended up losing a man as well, a deficit which was too colossal for the club to cope with.

Reece James was the hero for the club on the day as he scored twice for the side with Jorginho slotting home a penalty to wrap up a clinical and professional performance by Chelsea.
