Raul Ruidiaz conjured up a 1-0 win for Seattle Sounders against Austin FC with his sumptuous 40 yard goal 

Massively shorthanded when they took on Austin FC in the Major League Soccer, Seattle Sounders knew they needed something special to prevail on the night. And Raul Ruidiaz was at hand to deliver just what the club needed as he scored one of the goals of the season of this edition’s MLS campaign.

Becoming the first club ever to field five players under the age of 19 in an encounter, Seattle managed to do extremely well to stave Austin’s attacking threat. However, the club was itself extremely lacklustre in attack as well with the tie looking to close out with neither side breaking the deadlock.

It was then that Ruidiaz decided to take matters into his own hand. Seeing the ball land at his feet in the 67th minute as it ricochet off an Austin defender, Ruidiaz showed why he’s regarded as such a stalwart of the game.

His astute awareness of the game saw him immediately realise that Austin’s goal-keeper, Brad Stuver was well off his line. And Raul Ruidiaz wasn’t going to let go off the chance at his disposal as he unleashed a ferocious 40 yard strike, one which sailed striahgt over Stuver’s head and into the goal.

Raul Ruidiaz who was brought on as a second half substitute by Seattle Sounders ended up turning the tie in his team’s favour as Seattle won the affair 1-0. Even Sounder’ coach, Brian Schmetzer was left awed by the strike as he talked about it to with reporters ensuing his team’s win at the Q2 stadium.

Raul meanwhile talked about his side’s starlets and how they had managed to break into the team for the contest, “This was a great opportunity for the young players to start and we are here to support them. They did a great job, they played all 100 percent during the whole game.
