St. Mary’s Cricket Club player Asif Ali smashed his own car by hitting a massive six in a League match
While massive sixes are usually followed by a celebration, this wasn’t the case with British amateur cricketer Asif Ali. He was playing for Illingworth St. Mary’s Cricket Club against Sowerby St Peter’s on Sunday League in West Yorkshire, when he lofted the ball for a massive six. It didn’t take long for his joy to tur into despair. He watched the ball crash into his car and dropped to his knees with his head in his hands.

This was the first time Asif Ali had brought the car near the ground. Plus, since he also uses the car as a taxi to earn a living, one need not dig deep to find the source of his despair. “When the ball was going towards my car, (I said) oh no, no, no – what’s going on?. It straight hit the screen, I was shocked. I have been playing for this club for a long time but never have I brought my car in the car park, it’s always parked outside,” Asif Ali told ITV News.
But to Ali’s fortune, club chairman Jeremy Rhodes came to his rescue. He agreed to pay for the car’s repair. Watch the full incident in the following video.

Asif Ali plays for the Pakistan cricket team and represents the Northern cricket team in first class cricket. In the Pakistan Super League, he plays for Islamabad United. His exploits were identified by Islamabad United and he was a part of the title triumph in the first edition of the PSL as well. In August 2018, he was one of the thirty-three players to be awarded a central contract for the 2018–19 season by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
The player has the capability to cleanly strike the ball and send it out of the park with ease. However, his inability to consistently score has seen him remain on the sidelines of his country’s cricket team.
