Bowman, driving the #55 car, clipped Conner Morrell’s back tyre, sending both cars flying through the air.

The scene resembled one from an action movie because both cars suffered significant damage.

Both drivers succeeded in getting out of their vehicles and moving outside. It was terrible for Bowman to discover afterwards that he had a shattered vertebra.

In a message sent on his Twitter account, Bowman stated that he is in good health and is putting his focus on rest and healing in hopes to return to the racetrack as soon as possible.

Being out of the car is never an update any driver wants to make,” Bowman said. “I’ll be doing everything I can at home to help ensure my recovery is as quick as possible to get back in the 48 car soon.”

Since making his cup series debut at the 2014 Daytona 500, Bowman has won seven events in the series. He has also participated in the NASCAR Xfinity Series and the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.

Although Conner Morrell’s post-crash status is unknown, the fact that he was able to escape such a horrific circumstance gives Morrell at least some optimism for the future.

As we hope for his speedy recovery, Bowman will be replaced by Josh Berry, who filled in for Chase Elliott for five races as Elliott recovered from a broken leg.

In the No. 48 Chevrolet, Berry will start competing this weekend at Dover International Speedway in Delaware.

Bowman received medical attention on Tuesday evening in Iowa before undergoing a second evaluation on Wednesday in Charlotte. He missed five races the season before due to a concussion.
