The latest incident involves the operating theater, where a senior resident doctor allegedly slapped a female nursing staff member.

A video of the altercation has surfaced, and the doctor has been suspended.

A case has been registered against the doctor at the Rishikesh police station. The conflict occurred on Saturday evening in AIIMS Rishikesh’s trauma center between a doctor and a female nursing officer.

It is alleged that the trauma center was being prepared to treat victims of the Rudraprayag accident when the dispute arose, leading the irate doctor to slap the nursing officer.

The argument escalated into a heated exchange between the two. Other nursing staff present managed to calm the situation. Meanwhile, someone recorded the incident and shared it on social media.

The nursing officer organization has demanded action from the AIIMS administration and threatened to go on strike if no action is taken.

Did AIIMS Hospital Suspend the Senior Resident Doctor?

Following this, the senior resident doctor involved has been suspended.

To note, on Saturday afternoon, victims of the Rudraprayag Tempo Traveler accident were airlifted to AIIMS Rishikesh, and the operation theater was being prepped for them when the altercation occurred.

What Did the Spokesperson Reveal?

AIIMS Rishikesh spokesperson Sandeep Kumar stated that the video of the incident has been reviewed, leading to the suspension of the accused doctor.

A case has been filed against the doctor under sections 334/24, 323, 504, and 506 at the Rishikesh police station.

The Nursing Professional Development Association (NPDA) has warned of a strike starting June 18 if no action is taken.

From Sunday to Tuesday afternoon, the Nursing Association plans to hold a silent protest outside the medical superintendent’s office, after which they threaten to go on strike, excluding emergency services.

On Sunday, NPDA President Sanjeev Kumar Jangid and General Secretary Dinesh Luhar submitted a memorandum to the acting director.

AIIMS Rishikesh is becoming a hotspot for controversies. On May 20, a female doctor was allegedly harassed by a nursing officer, leading to strikes from both sides.
