In what has been termed as brazen racism by the army of Ukraine, African students in the country have been beaten and assaulted
For a country which is fraught with mayhem and upheaval at the moment as Russia unfurls a barrage of attacks on Ukraine, the Ukrainian Army isn’t winning the world over as well. Over the last couple of days, scores of videos and images have emanated from the country, ones from the border which show Ukraine’s soldiers beating, assaulting and stopping international citizens from escaping the land.

Black Africans are being treated with racism and contempt in Ukraine & Poland. West cannot ask African nations to stand in solidarity with them if they cannot display basic respect for us even in a time of war. Ignored in a pandemic and left to die in war?!! UNACCEPTABLE.

And two regions have under the brunt of the Ukraine Army with Indian and African students both subjected to horrific and unabated violence by the soldiers. After a hoard of videos showed Indians students being stopped at the Poland border as they were charged by batons by the Ukraine Army who also fired to curb them from leaving the country, Africans have now been sharing their plight.
Nigerian students trying to escape war-hit Ukraine have informed how there is racial discrimination among evacuees trying to leave the country. Journalist Stephanie Hegarty went onto reveal how a Nigerian medical student told her that while she was waiting to cross the border, the Ukrainian soldiers did not allow black people to cross and sent them back with whites being allowed before them.
Africans were the last to be allowed to board any train with stations in Kyiv refusing to let people from the continent into trains with the citizens still waiting to get to Lviv. Ukraine has for long being accused of habouring racist sentiments with a section of its army also openly supporting the Nazi school of thought along with using the swastika in its parades.
