Hoover was shot twice and then dragged into the crawl area of his home in the Boston-Edison Historic District. When the cops showed up at the mansion on April 23, the 53-year-old’s body was hidden from view.

After the doctor skipped a family gathering, the police were checking on his welfare at his home. Finally, Hoover was discovered in the crawlspace.

According to the Free Press, he was only sporting one blue sock at the time. Since then, an unidentified person of interest in the investigation has been detained and later released.

Meanwhile, social media users are debating if the deceased doctor was gay.

Was Dr Devon Hoover Gay?

Some of the members of a Facebook group that appeared to be dedicated to obtaining justice for Hoover’s death made assumptions about the late doctor’s sexual orientation.

The following statement was made in a lengthy post by a user by the name of Sue Cain Basler: “What I am about to say, I am sure, will be heavily criticised, but this is what I genuinely feel. What is known is that Dr Hoover was raised in Indiana in a sizable, traditional family. He was raised as a Medianite, a very traditional Christian sect that rejects homosexuality. We know that Dr Hoover decided to leave his family behind after college and settle in Detroit. We are aware that he kept in touch with his family.”

She continued, saying, “We know he was a wonderful doctor and kind to everyone. According to an update, he did stay in the Melinite church. We believe that he was homosexual and that several of his close friends were aware of this. We don’t know if his family was aware of his sexual orientation.”

Dr Hoover felt the need to shield his family from learning that he was gay and that this could offend them; he was free to do so. According to her, he was in charge of that.

She concluded by saying, “Without regard to whether he was gay or not, if he was picking up strangers or engaging in other risky behaviour, he was putting his life in danger and running the possibility of any secrets he may have had coming out. He, not we, decided to do this. He didn’t deserve to die for it, but by doing it, he jeopardised his family’s safety and violated both their and his own privacy.”
