Sachin Tendulkar, widely known as the “Master Blaster,” stands alone as the only batter in cricket history to have achieved the astonishing feat of scoring 100 international centuries. His illustrious international career spanned a remarkable 24 years, during which he shattered numerous records and etched his name in the annals of cricketing history.

In contrast, Virat Kohli, the modern-day batting maestro, has embarked on an unrelenting quest to reach the pinnacle of cricketing glory. With a career that spans across formats, Kohli has been steadfast in his pursuit of Tendulkar’s records, particularly aiming to become the leading run-scorer in both One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and Test cricket.

In terms of their overall international records, Virat Kohli boasts 26,026 runs from 511 matches, with an impressive average of 53.78 and a commanding strike rate of 79.14. 

Kohli’s record includes an astonishing 78 centuries and 134 half-centuries, a testament to his consistency and dominance across formats.

On the other hand, Sachin Tendulkar’s international journey spanned a whopping 664 matches, amassing 34,357 runs at an average of 48.52 and a strike rate of 79.94. Tendulkar’s illustrious career featured a century on 100 occasions and an impressive tally of 164 half-centuries.

While Tendulkar made a cameo appearance in India’s first-ever T20 International against South Africa in 2006, he never ventured into the format at the international level. 

Kohli made his T20I debut in 2010 and has since established himself as the leading run-scorer in the format. Kohli’s T20I statistics speak volumes, with 4,008 runs from 115 matches at an average of 52.73 and a striking strike rate of 137.96.

Sachin Tendulkar has long been celebrated as the greatest limited-overs batter. He amassed over 15,000 runs in this format, setting a record that seemed impossible to beat for years. 

However, Virat Kohli, over the last decade, has asserted his dominance in ODIs. Kohli boasts an astonishing average of 58.01, the highest among batters with over 6,000 runs, and has showcased his proficiency in run chases.

Kohli’s ODI record stands at 13,342 runs from 285 matches, featuring 48 centuries and 68 half-centuries. In comparison, Tendulkar accumulated 18,426 runs in 463 matches, with an average of 44.83, striking at 86.24 and notching 49 centuries and 96 half-centuries.

In the realm of Test cricket, Sachin Tendulkar’s name resonates with the most centuries, an astounding 51, and 15,921 runs at an average of 53.79. 

Kohli, however, has also made his mark in the longest format. With 8,676 runs in 111 matches at an average of 49.30, he has held his own. Kohli’s Test record includes 29 centuries and 29 half-centuries, marking his proficiency and adaptability in this demanding format.
