With all the news coming about Virat Kohli and his behavior as a team man, its not surprising that BCCI were looking to take away his captaincy
After Virat’s resignation as a T20 captain, we noted that many veteran cricketers shared their views and support but not any of his teammates. A former Indian player who was once a squad member came forward stating that Virat is incommunicado right after the match ends. Well, this is not a sign of a good leader.
What do the reports say?
The worst of all truths in Indian cricket is that ‘King Kohli’ hasn’t always had the complete backing of his teammates. Owing to those that have closely observed him, his method of operation borders on despotism, with little space for inclusion.
Questions frequently asked about Virat Kohli and his captaincy
The lack of adaptability has often been discussed in low voices, whether fielding two spinners in the World Test Championship final at Southampton or not allowing any batsman to settle into the No.4 spot well before the 2019 World Cup. And although India led England 2-1 in the Test series, the choice to sideline the world’s No. 1 off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin looked ridiculous.
Before the Adelaide Test against Australia earlier this year, he did wield ultimate control. However, the 36 all-out and his following paternity break changed everything. Kuldeep Yadav’s career took a turn for the worst after a five-wicket haul in Australia.
Rishabh Pant was the same when he wasn’t in rhythm. Umesh Yadav, a veteran bowler who is a beast on Indian surfaces, rarely gets explained why he isn’t selected until someone gets hurt.
In the case of MS Dhoni, his rooms would be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and anyone could stroll in, play PS4, have a meal, let their hair be styled, and, if necessary, talk cricket. But in Kohli’s reign, it has been quite the opposite.
Is Rohit a good choice?
Rohit resembles MSD, but in a different way. He takes the younger guys out to eat, offers them a friendly pat on the back when they’re down, and knows everything there is to know about a player’s psychological attitude.
It is sad how things are coming up now. Reports also state that Kohli never held any player in his bad form when one needs the most. What lies in the future, no one knows. Kohli will lead the side in T20 World Cup next month.
