Following the 1983 World Cup-winning captain’s appeal for the Delhi-born cricketer’s dismissal from the national team, supporters of two Indian cricket stars, Virat Kohli and Kapil Dev, spat barbs with the tweet war viral
After the 33-year-old batsman failed once more in the second T20I match against England on Saturday in Birmingham, the verbal battle between the supporters of Virat Kohli and Kapil Dev intensified.
In the seventh over of India’s innings at the second T20I in Birmingham, England fast bowler Richard Gleeson bowled a double-wicket maiden, and Virat Kohli was out for one.
On the other side, Virat Kohli lost his wicket after he attempted to drive the ball over the deep midwicket boundary but was unable to generate enough force with his shot. After the ball took the outer edge of his bat and rose into the air, he was eventually caught by David Malan in the backward point area.

“Virat has performed well over the past ten years in T20 matches, and his most recent figures are excellent. Why are there rumours that he will be dropped by former cricketers and news outlets?” A third user wrote on the microblogging website, “If you truly want to drop someone to accommodate xyz drop your captain who performs once in a blue moon.”

Kapil Dev was always a visionary. He had predicted in 2019 about Virat Kohli eyesight n late in picking lengths. Today he proved right again. It’s an Indian team n not private club to celebrate only on past laurels. It’s a performance game. That’s why Hooda should have played. 😏 https://t.co/zKyuMOPxyF

Virat Kohli’s supporters were swiftly retaliated against by Kapil Dev’s supporters, who also backed his comments on the underperforming India batter. Kohli has now for three years failed to prove his mettle with him being accorded with scores of breaks to try and cool his feet and regain his form, something which hasn’t been seen in Indian cricket till now with players being asked to play domestic matches to make a return to form.
Kapil Dev is accurate. Only Kohli’s prior performance and his supporters with chicken heads have kept him in the team. Many young people have the capacity to replace this empty vessel that only sounds good for a year, according to one person who believes Kohli should have been dropped around a year ago.
