The Vijay Hazare Trophy also known as the Ranji One-Day Trophy, started back in 2002-2003 as a limited-overs domestic cricket competition.

The trophy initially featured state teams from the Ranji Trophy plates. The much-coveted trophy is named after the legendary 20th century Indian cricketer, Vijay Hazare.

Vijay Hazare Trophy 2022: Prize Money. Winner 20 Lakhs. Runner-up 10 Lakhs. Group toppers 5 Lakhs each.

Match Fees: Rs.35,000 per match per player

Vijay Hazare Full List Of Trophy Winners

Although the tournament initially had its inaugural edition during the 1993–94 season, the tournament did not feature any finals upto the 2001–02 season. The participating teams all played only within their own zones, with no overall winner.

However, the 2002–03 and 2003–04 seasons, followed a final round-robin stage. The finals stage featured the top teams in each zone. The following 2004–05 edition of the tournament, followed a playoff format including semi-finals and a final. Ever since then it has followed a similar format with slight changes over the years.

So far, Tamil Nadu are the most successful team in the tournament, having won the trophy 5 times. Himachal Pradesh are the current champion (2020-2021) who won their 1st title after beating tournament favourites Tamil Nadu.
