Many demonstrated throughout the USA to show their support for Israel
Tens of thousands of people demonstrated against antisemitism and in favour of Israel on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. Palestinian concerns for forcible displacement have increased as a result of calls from Israeli parliamentarians for Western nations to accept Gazan citizens as refugees.
Health officials have reported around 11,200 casualties and over 1.6 million displaced individuals in Gaza as a result of the fighting. According to Israel, 239 people are still being kept captive in Gaza after 1,200 people were killed in the terrorist strike carried out by Hamas on October 7.
Hamas is exploiting medical facilities in Gaza
Israel has made public two videos shot inside the biggest children’s hospital in Gaza, purportedly revealing bombs and weapons that were discovered there. This is evidence that Hamas is using medical institutions as a front. Another video shows a chamber that the military claims was used to hold prisoners.
The footage was shot inside the Al-Rantisi Specialized Hospital for Children in northern Gaza, although the Health Ministry in Hamas-controlled Gaza contradicts several of the statements made in the Israeli recordings. The Israeli army’ encirclement likely forced the remaining patients and staff to flee over the weekend.
US intelligence claims that Hamas has utilized hospitals as command centers and places to store ammunition, most notably in Al-Shifa. Spokesman for the National Security Council, John Kirby asserted that this data, which originated from US sources, validates Israel’s accusation and classifies Hamas’s actions as war crimes. The largest hospital in Gaza City, Al-Shifa, had medical personnel bury a large number of deceased in a mass grave on the premises because they were beginning to deteriorate and posed a health risk. This highlights how conditions within the facility are deteriorating as Israel keeps up its war against Hamas.
The World Health Organization stressed that Al-Shifa’s severe fuel, electricity, and water shortages mean the hospital can no longer function as intended. It reaffirmed calls for a cease-fire on Tuesday. Distressing conditions are described in the complex by medical professionals and the Hamas-led Gaza health ministry, with multiple additional hospitals closing during the Israeli offensive.
