Incident Captured on Dashboard Camera
Despite the presence of other vehicles and pedestrians, no one came to her aid. Fortunately, the entire incident was captured on her dashboard camera.
The aggressor proceeded toward the driver’s side window, shouting and making gestures, but the victim managed to escape unharmed and reached home safely. Concerned about the potential threat to her safety and that of other solo female drivers, she emphasized the seriousness of the matter.
Similar instances of harassment have been reported in the Whitefield division, prompting Bengaluru City Police Commissioner B. Dayananda to instruct the police to take stringent action against offenders.
Woman Wrote to Commissioner
In a letter to Commissioner Dayananda, the woman detailed her ordeal, expressing fear for her safety. The shared video footage has been reviewed by DCP (Whitefield) Shivakumar Ganare, who noted that locals claim the man in the video is mentally unstable and often loiters in the area.
However, the police have yet to locate him. In case of emergencies, individuals are urged to dial 112 and provide their details for prompt assistance from a patrolling Hoysala vehicle within 7-10 minutes.
In a separate incident, a woman was arrested following a collision involving her BMW and a parked vehicle, which then struck four pedestrians, causing critical injuries. The driver, Mahak Kapoor (34), accompanied by her husband, was reportedly not under the influence of alcohol during the accident.
The injured pedestrians, Yashwant Nalwade (58), Devraj Madhukar (50), Manohar (62), and Nitin, all from Maharashtra, were walking after dinner when Mahak’s car collided with a parked Maruti Ciaz. Mahak has been booked under sections 279 (rash driving) and 337 (causing hurt by an act that endangers human life) of the IPC at CR Police Station.
In a different development, the Bombay High Court issued a notice to the Joint Commissioner of Police, Thane, seeking an explanation for non-compliance with an inquiry order regarding the misidentification of an accused in a road accident, leading to a gender misclassification.
