According to Law&Crime, an esteemed news outlet, the charge levied against Mason is “risking the welfare of a child”. As per the complaint, Mason’s behavior was likely to be harmful to the child’s physical, mental, or moral welfare, thereby endangering his life and health.
Chantal Mason’s unfathomable behavior
The nanny cam captured Mason shouting at the toddler, demanding him to be quiet and commanding him to “Lay your a– down and go to sleep,” amidst the child’s sobbing. Authorities have revealed that the physical abuse portrayed on television was only a part of the actual ordeal, with the maltreatment going on for longer. In addition to the violent outburst, the footage showed Mason resting her foot on the child’s head while relaxing on the family’s couch.
A broken trust after the Chantal Mason incident
Kristla Homes, who had trusted Chantal Mason as a friend for over 15 years, expressed her shock and betrayal. She stressed the incident as a stark reminder for parents to be vigilant about whom they trust their children with. She told CBS News, “You can’t trust nobody. You cannot trust your kids’ godparents. You can’t trust a long friend. Protect your own kids.”
News 12 said that Mason was caught on camera repeatedly hitting the child, which made the kid cry even more. The nanny then proceeded to flip the toddler “beneath a baby blanket to push the child’s body into a couch during the attack.” This reportedly ceased the child’s movements and cries.
Prompt action in the Chantal Mason case
Holmes rushed back home upon viewing the horrifying footage and had Mason arrested for endangering her child, who sustained minor injuries. She voiced her wish for justice saying, “She deserves to be in jail. I want her in jail.”
Following the arrest, Chantal Mason was released on June 13. As investigations continue, this case serves as a chilling reminder of the importance of ensuring child safety even within the trusted circles.
