Three days after he was struck fatally in the head during a fight in Brazil, a young amateur boxer passed away in the hospital.

A report in the Daily Mail, suggests that Joao Victor Penha, who was just 23 years old was reportedly asked by his family not to participate in the battle because they were worried about his safety, even if he was competing for a £16 reward. And he was knocked out cold by his opponent’s straight punch to the jaw just ninety seconds into the fight in Jijoca de Jericoacoara.
First responders in Jijoca de Jericoacoara, northeastern Brazil, attended to him promptly, and he later recovered consciousness. But shortly after the battle ended, he was reportedly taken to an emergency care facility, where his condition rapidly worsened. The 23-year-old was later announced dead on October 10.

23-year-old Joao Victor was an aspiring boxer who resided in Jijoca de Jericoacoara with his family, where he worked as an HR manager at a hotel by the sea. He has a sister named Lilia Maria da Penha who also informed about his funeral happened last Thursday.
What is the cause of death?
According to the local media, he suffered cranioencephalic injuries as a result of the vicious punch. He was sent in critical condition to a hospital in nearby Sobral on October 8, the day after the strike. The boxer sadly couldn’t fight the injury and passed away on October 10.
