Much of the 2004 Super Bowl Halftime Show followed the pattern set by the NFL in years earlier. That is, a high-energy production that was broadcast on television all over the world and featured well-known musicians of the day. But one particular instance really jumped out and is still spoken about today.
Justin Timberlake approached Janet Jackson as the performance reached its peak and then took off a portion of her outfit, exposing her right br*ast to a television audience of over 140 million viewers for a brief moment.

Most were obviously stunned, but several questioned if they had just witnessed a deliberate moment as opposed to an unintentional one. Alot of the fans now ask the question if it was scripted.
When discussing the circumstances at hand, NFL official Jim Steeg said he wasn’t present for the actual moment but was taken aback when Mike Pereira, the league’s vice president at the time, showed him the pictures on a video replay shortly after it happened.
Meanwhile, Jackson addressed the matter in a statement. She stated:
My decision to change the Super Bowl performance was actually made after the final rehearsal.
She further said:
“MTV, CBS, the NFL
had no knowledge of this whatsoever and unfortunately, the whole thing went wrong in the end.”
On the other hand, the Mirrors singer also released a statement regarding the incident. Timberlake expressed regret at a Grammy Awards acceptance speech. He said:
‘What occurred was unintentional completely regrettable, and I apologize if you guys were offended.”
