David Choe, the star of the documentary “Beef,” has recently caused a stir after a 2014 episode of his podcast “DVDASA” video emerged and showed him talking about his own “r*pey behaviour” towards a massage therapist
But the clips have been taken down now because Choe himself used the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) to get them taken down.
Writers Aura Bogado and Meecham Whitson Meriweather both shared clips from Choe’s podcast “DVDASA” episode “Er*ction Quest” on Twitter, but both clips were taken down on Sunday after Choe sent DMCA notices. Both writers got emails from Twitter telling them that Choe himself had filed copyright warnings.

David Choe once wrote a slur-laden open letter to Marvel’s Joe Quesada, calling disabled people “the real mutants.” Easiest thing in the world for Netflix and everyone involved with Beef to toss this dude in the fire, but they just won’t do it. pic.twitter.com/9UiqVbSYX5

David Choe wrote to Twitter to get the video I posted of him talking about the woman he says he raped taken down on copyright grounds.

It’s not the first time Choe’s claims in the video have come to light. In 2014, when he was criticised, he said that his story had been “misunderstood” and that it didn’t reflect his reality. In 2014, Choe told the New York Times, “I’ve never r*ped anyone.” He told the Times that the story about the masseuse was made up and a piece of performance art.
David Choe under fire for graphic story involving massage worker and s*xual acts
Choe tells his co-host Asa Akira and other guests about a time when a massage worker he calls Rose gave him a relaxing massage. In the resurfaced clips, Choe tells his co-host Asa Akira and other guests about an incident in which he got a massage from a therapist he calls Rose. “I’m getting t*rned on just telling this story,” he says.

“I just take her hand and I put it on my d*ck. She just holds it there.” Choe tells a lengthy story involving numerous s*xual acts. He ends the X-rated monologue by saying, “The thrill of possibly going to jail, that’s what achieved the er*ction quest.”
“Ew, you’re basically telling us that you’re a r*pist now, and that the only way to get your d*ck really hard is r*pe,” Akira says, to which Choe retorts, “Yeah,” before answering the other guests’ questions about Rose’s appearance.
“A successful r*pist,” he jokes.
David Choe stays quiet amid backlash over podcast episode
Choe hasn’t said anything about the current backlash, and when Variety asked him for a comment, he didn’t give one right away. Netflix, A24, and “Beef” author Lee Sung Jin have not said anything about the situation either.
Because of the #MeToo movement and ongoing efforts to stop s*xual misconduct and abuse in the entertainment industry, the incident has sparked a discussion about whether or not this kind of content is appropriate. The situation also shows how copyright laws can be used to take material off the internet, as well as how those laws could be broken.
In any case, the controversy over Choe’s podcast has brought up again the need for accountability and responsibility in the entertainment business, as well as the ongoing work to make the world a safer and more welcoming place for everyone.
