Jonny Bairstow pulled off a sensational catch to dismiss KL Rahul right before tea on day 3 of the Leeds test match
With India managing to clean up England’s final two wickets cheaply on day 3 of the England vs India 3rd test match, the Indian openers stepped out looking to save the test match. Staring at a colossal deficit, the Indians knew that it would require a heroic effort from them if they were to have any chance of erasing the mammoth trail they were staring at.
Where they had made a measly 78 in the first innings, England spearheaded by captain Joe Root had gone onto accrue 432 runs. The stakes couldn’t get any higher when KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma stepped out at Headingley on Friday with both needing to see out the ominous moving new ball.
While Rohit was at his free flowing best, KL Rahul was in a soup during the opening session. He was persistently clobbered by the English bowlers with the opener just about managing to stay at the crease.

However, luck only stayed by his side for so long with Craig Overton battering Rahul right before lunch. He exchanged a couple of words with the opener as well as the two bickered out in the middle at Leeds.

It was Overton though who had ultimately emerged the winner of that feud as he induced a thick edge from KL Rahul. The ball travelled to the slip cauldron as Jonny Bairstow dived to his left to snare the one handed catch.
It was a remarkable effort from him, one which reduced India to 34-1 at the end of the day’s opening session.
