The triad including a raft of other Marseille players were clobbered by the Nice ultras after Dimitri Payet threw a bottle into the stands
Having had enough of the Nice ultras having a go at him during Nice vs Marseille, Dimitri Payet decided to give it back. As a bottle was thrown at him by the Nice supporters as he went to take a corner, Marseille’s Payet ended up throwing the bottle back into the stands.
It was an act which saw all hell break loose as the Nice supporters grew irate with what Payet at done. The miffed supporters rushed onto the pitch as they jumped from the stands and broke through the stewards to hand out a hammering to Payet and the Marseille player.
While the visiting side’s players did manage to eventually escape the rift, it wasn’t without damage though. The Nice supporters got a fair chunk of a string of Marseille players as they grabbed and clawed at them.
