Although New Zealand have been utterly dominated and decimated by India in the ongoing 2nd test match at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, the visitors did have something to cheer about as spinner Ajaz Patel scripted history.
At a time when his peers where being played out of the park by the Indians, Ajaz who was born in Mumbai itself refused to be deterred. The spinner ended up being the only wicket taker for the Black Caps with him stepping up to the mantle to snare all ten Indian wickets in the first innings of the hosts.

The performance grew in stature with Patel snagging those wickets on day one and two of the Mumbai test match at a time when the surface remained hard and refused to really play into his hands. With it, Patel became only the third bowler in the world to have picked up all 10 wickets in an innings.

Rahul Dravid, the current head coach of the Indian team became one of the elusive people to have watched two ten wicket hauls in test cricket live. Dravid was a part of the Indian team when Anil Kumble had run through Pakistan’s batting unit.
Kumble was quick to serenade Patel with plaudits with him taking to Twitter to welcome the Indian origin bowler into the ten wicket club. New Zealand meanwhile failed to draw inspiration from Patel’s efforts with the side collapsing for a measly 62 runs in their first innings.
