Tragedy struck in February 2024 when Vetri Duraisamy was reported missing after the car he was traveling in, along with two other passengers, skidded off the road and fell into the Sutlej River in of Himachal Pradesh.

While the driver of the vehicle, Tanjeev, lost his life in the accident, Vetri’s friend Gopinath sustained injuries and was rushed to the hospital for medical treatment. Vetri’s body was found on 13 February 2024.
45-year-old Vetri Duraisamy was born in 1979 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. He was 5ft 9in tall. Vetri attended Alpha International School. Details about his wife and kids are not known.
Despite being married Vetri and his undisclosed wife did not have children.
Vetri hailed from a family with strong political ties. His father, Saidai Duraisamy, a senior leader of the All-India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam party and a former Mayor of Chennai exposed Vetri to the world of cinema at a young age through his close association with M.G. Ramachandran. His mother Mallika is a homemaker.
Vetri’s educational journey began at St. Bede’s Anglo-Indian Higher Secondary School in Chennai, followed by a Bachelor’s degree from Loyola College. He furthered his studies at the University of Madras where he pursued an MBA degree, laying the foundation for his future career in business and entrepreneurship.

Despite his strong academic background, Vetri’s true passion lay in the world of cinema. He made his directorial debut with the film ‘Endraavathu Oru Naal’ in 2012. The film, which revolves around the life of a farmer named Thangamuthu and his wife Rasathi, garnered widespread acclaim, winning 43 awards across various film festivals.
Vetri’s directorial prowess and storytelling abilities were evident in the film, which featured a talented cast including Remya Nambeesan, Vidharth, Ilavarasu, and others in prominent roles.
