Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all geared up to set the foundation venue for the International cricket stadium in Varanasi as several reports suggest the City will likely get an international cricket stadium soon, know about the new cricket stadium project location and cost

As per reports, PM is scheduled to visit the city on Friday, March 24, 2023. For those curious, let us tell you, the construction for the stadium is likely to start soon as the VDA (Varanasi Development Authority) has taken the responsibility for the cricket stadium.

According to the media reports, the stadium will be constructed outside the Ganjari village in Varanasi. It will be build on 32 acres of land and reportedly the authorities have already acquired the land for the same. The land owners were reportedly given a sum of Rs 121 crore for the compensation. The total cost of the stadium will be Rs.300 crore with it constructed till 2024.

As per a statement given by the officials, the purchased land will be handed over to UPCA and the BCCI by the end of this month.

For those unversed, let us tell you, this will be Uttar Pradesh’s third international cricket stadium. Apart from this, the two other international stadiums are located in the Lucknow and Kanpur.

Let us remind you, as of now Varanasi has two stadium. The proposed facility will be city’s third followed by Dr. Sampurnanand Sports Stadium and Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Sports Stadium.

Jay Shah, the secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), and Rajiv Shukla, the vice-president of the BCCI, visited the area and spoke with the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association’s office holders (UPCA). A group of technical experts were also there, as they converse about the international cricket stadium.

Earlier on Sunday, the director of UPCA, Yudhvir Singh told the PTI that, “The Uttar Pradesh government has identified around 31 acres of land in Ganjari village in Rajatalab tehsil (of Varanasi) for the construction of the international cricket stadium.

“It will be the third such stadium in the state after Green Park in Kanpur and Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana stadium in Lucknow, where international matches will be played.”

According to the statement given by Singh, the construction work of the new stadium will start by May-June, 2023. It will likely to be completed by the end of 2024.

According to Singh’s statement, the construction of the proposed stadium will cost around Rs. 300 Crore.

With a capacity of 132,000 spectators, the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, is currently the biggest stadium in the world. We don’t yet know when Varanasi’s new stadium capacity will be or what its specific construction requirements will be.
