In the year 1931, three young British Mountaineers named Frank S. Smythe, Eric Shiptonand R.L. Holdsworth went from their path while descending from the Mt. Kamet. One of the climbers Frank S. Smythe later wrote a book called the โValley of Flowersโ.
About Valley of Flowers National Park
The region of the Valley of Flowers is rich in varied flora and fauna. The valley of flowers was announced as the National Park of India in the year 1982 and it now comes under the UNESCO world heritage site. This mystical valley’s virgin and iconic beauty has always lured botanists, nature lovers, and adventure lovers.
It is at the 3,658 meters in Bhyundar Valley, in Chamoli district, and sprawls over an expanse of 87.50 square km, a measuring 8 km long and 2 km wide. The Valley of Flowers is the second core zone of the Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve blessed with several cascading waterfalls, silvery glaciers, and thickets that greet the visitant at each and every step.
Ghangaria, a tiny hamlet situated 13 km from Govindghat is the last human habitation center in the Valley of the Flowers.
Valley of Flowers Trek 2022 Opening and Closing Dates, Timings, And Tickets
The Valley of Flowers was open for tourists and trekkers from 1st June 2022. The Closing Date of Valley of Flowers will be in October/November as it is done annually. Foreign visitors are supposed to pay INR 600 and for Indians, it is INR 150. The valley is open from 8 am to 5 pm for visitors each day.
The best time to visit is in June-July when the rains are not that severe and the floors are in full bloom. All the details can be found here.
