He is a retired German track and field player who competed in the javelin throw events during his active career days. Uwe Hohn is one of the only players to throw a javelin 100 meters or more. Uwe’s world record is 104.80 m throw.

In the year 1986, a new Javelin came into existence and all records had to be restarted, however, Uwe Hohn’s made an “eternal world record”. He has trained the Indian track and field athlete Neeraj Chopra, who bagged the Gold medal in Men’s javelin throw at Summer Olympics held in Tokyo in 2020.

Hohn won the European Junior Championship of 1981 with a throw of 86.56, a major junior record. Then Uwe conquered gold in 1982 at the European Championships with a 91.34 m javelin throw.

He has been a professional coach since the year 1999. Apart from others, Uwe Hohn had trained China’s national champion Zhao Qinggang. In the year 2017, he signed the contract with AFI of India for coaching the Indian javelin squad including junior world record holder Neeraj Chopra.

Neeraj Chopra represented India and bagged the Gold medal in the Men’s javelin, and he won with a throw of 87.58 m.

From the year 1976 to 1980, Uwe Hohn was considered a GDR champion for his age group. In the year 1981, Uwe was European junior champion for the GDR starting in Utrecht with 86.58 m javelin throw and having a European junior record with 86.58 m throw.

In 1985 Uwe Set a championship record of 92.88 m javelin throw at the European Cup 1985.
