The top seeds stepped up and delivered in a match on Arthur Ashe Stadium that determined who would end the competition as the individual No. 1 in the Pepperstone ATP Doubles Rankings.

Let us have a look at the doubles and mixed doubles results.

Rajeev Ram/Joe Salisbury vs Wesley Koolhof/Neal Skupski

Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury won their third Grand Slam title together on Friday by defeating second seeds Wesley Koolhof and Neal Skupski 7-6(4), 7-5, and successfully defending their US Open title.

Salisbury, a Briton, who has already amassed 11 tour-level victories, will continue to hold the top spot after the triumph. If he had shared his first major prize and eighth tour-level trophy of the year with Koolhof, Skupski would have overtaken his fellow countryman and moved up to the first place.

Ram and Salisbury won after one hour and 57 minutes and improved to 2-1 in their ATP Head-to-Head series. They did this by effectively closing the net, attacking second serves, and rallying from 1/4 in the first set tie-break.

The American-British pair has qualified for the Nitto ATP Finals in November for the second time, following Koolhof and Skupski, thanks to their triumph. In addition, they became just the second team to successfully defend their title in New York. In 1995 and 1996, the trophy was won by Todd Woodbridge and Mark Woodforde.

There weren’t many break-point opportunities in the first set since both sides served well. Ram and Salisbury won 88% (21/24) of the points after their initial delivery and found a second gear when necessary, winning six consecutive points from 1/4 in the tie-break to take the lead.

At the beginning of the second set, Skupski fired a return winner to give the second seeds an early break, but the top seeds soon struck back to even the match at 2-2. To secure their triumph, Ram and Salisbury kept up their offensive pressure and broke once more in the 12th game.

Ram and Salisbury leave Flushing Meadows with a 17-2 record at the competition and a 31-12 record overall. They defeated Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah by a slim margin to advance to the championship match. While making it to the semifinals of the Australian Open and Wimbledon, the 2020 Australian Open champions won ATP Masters 1000 titles in Monte Carlo and Cincinnati.

Katerina Siniakova/Barbora Krejcikova vs Caty McNally/Taylor Townsend

By defeating Caty McNally and Taylor Townsend of the United States, 3-6, 7-5, 6-1, Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova completed a Career Golden Slam in doubles, winning all four Grand Slams as well as the Olympics and made history at the US Open on Sunday.

They first won Wimbledon and Roland Garros in 2018, the Olympic gold medal in Tokyo, and their first Australian Open earlier this year; hence, winning the US Open was the final component of the puzzle.

John Peers/Storm Sanders vs Kirsten Flipkens/Edouard Roger-Vasselin

The Australian duo overcame Kirsten Flipkens and Edouard Roger-Vasselin on Saturday to win the mixed doubles title at the hard-court Grand Slam, proving that John Peers and Storm Sanders’ long-held desire to work together on the doubles court was worthwhile.

Peers and Sanders completed a 4-6, 6-4, 10-7 triumph on Arthur Ashe Stadium by maintaining composure in the Match Tie-break. The fourth seeds, who were making their team debut this week, lost just two sets overall to win the championship in New York.
