Meanwhile, reigning champion Wesley So has bagged his first win of this event by defeating Sam Shankland and set-up perfect stage ahead of his much-anticipated clash against Caruana in Round 5 on Sunday.

2022 US Chess Championship Format, Rules, Schedule, Date, Time, Venue, And Other Details
The 2022 U.S. Championship, an elite over-the-board national championship competition featuring 14 of the best chess players in the country, is being held at the Saint Louis Chess Club. Winner will be determined after 13 rounds and receive a prize of $60,000 in addition to coveted title of 2022 U.S. Champion. A public opening ceremony on October 4 officially kicked off the renowned 2022 U.S. Chess and U.S. Women’s Chess Championships, which will conclude on October 20 with a closing ceremony.
US Chess Championship 2022 will have a 90-minute time limit for the opening 40 moves. The time limit for the remaining moves will then be 30 minutes, with 30 seconds being added for each additional move after that. There won’t be any draws in the Event’s regular season or postseason games.

2022 US Chess Championship Day 4 Results, Score, Winners, Standings, & Day 5 Schedule
On Saturday, round four of the 2022 U.S. Chess Championship featured exciting games in every category. In open division, reigning champion Wesley So triumphed in round four by defeating Sam Shankland with the white pieces. Meanwhile, Aleksandr Lenderman defeated 15-year-old prodigy Christopher Yoo to avenge his third-round loss against So. Even after four round of matches, total four players: Levon Aronian, Leinier Dominguez, Jeffery Xiong, and Ray Robson, are still without a victory with one round left before the first rest day.
With four victories in the Women’s event, co-leaders FM Jennifer Yu and WGM Tatev Abrahamyan, as well as GM Irina Krush and IM Anna Zatonskih, continued the trend of winning with white. The 2019 U.S. Women’s champion Yu bounced back from a difficult loss in round three to defeat WFM Sophie Morris-Suzuki in her third match.
By defeating co-leader WIM Megan Lee, Zatonskih was able to knock her off the top of the standings. Krush defeated the struggling FM to earn her first victory of the competition after a somewhat sluggish start. On the white side of the Nimzo-Indian Defense, Ashritha Eswaran. Abrahamyan overcame WGM Sabina Francesca-Foisor by taking full advantage of three white players out of four games and displaying outstanding technique in a rook and bishop ending.
Wesley So, the current champion, and Fabiano Caruana, the current leader, will square off in the fifth round of the 2022 US Chess Championship. This matchup could have a big impact on the conclusion of the tournament. In a contrasting match, Hans Niemann will compete to win his second game of the season against Leinier Dominguez. On Sunday, Christopher Yoo will take on Samuel Sevian, who is now in second place, in an effort to earn his third victory in five games.
