Saint Louis Chess Club is hosting 2022 edition of U.S. Championship, an elite over-the-board national championship event featuring 14 of the finest chess players in the nation. In addition to $250,500 in cash and the coveted title of 2022 U.S. Champion, the winner will be decided after 13 rounds. The prestigious 2022 U.S. Chess and U.S. Women’s Chess Championships got under way on October 4 with a public opening ceremony and will wrap up on October 20 with a closing ceremony.

For the first 40 moves of the US Chess Championship 2022, there will be a 90-minute time limit. The remaining moves will thereafter have a 30-minute time limit, with 30 seconds being added for each successive move after that. There will be no draws in either regular season or postseason matchups of the Event.

2022 US Chess Championship Day 3 Results, Score, Winners, Standings, & Day 4 Schedule

At the 2022 U.S. Championships on Friday, Fabiano Caruana, Christopher Yoo, and Awonder Liang all won their third-round matches. The first two of these players are now tied for the lead with two points after three games alongside GMs Sam Sevian and Hans Niemann. In the Women’s event, players using the white pieces had a successful day as FM Ruiyang Yan, WGM Gulrukhbegim Tokhirjonova, and WGM Tatev Abrahamyan bagged decisive victories. Meanwhile, 12-year-old Alice Lee is still leading women’s division after earning a draw in her third round match.

On Friday, 15-year-old prodigy Christopher Yoo overcame Elshan Moradiabadi to gain his second straight victory, while Fabiano Caruana defeated Dariusz Swiercz to claim his first victory in this year’s competition. Levon Aronian drew with Samuel Sevian in another match, and Hans Niemann drew with Sam Shankland in another. Wesley So unexpectedly surrendered for a draw against Jefferry Xiong, failing to win for the third round in a row. Following results of Friday, Sevian, Niemann, Caruana, and Christoper Yoo lead the standings with 2/3 points apiece.

In the fourth round of the 2022 US Chess Championship, reigning champion Wesley So will face Sam Shankland, and co-leader Hans Niemann will face fellow co-leader Fabiano Caruana. Levon Aronian will face Robson Ray in a different encounter and attempt to win his first match of the campaign. Elsewhere, Yoo will face Landerman on Saturday in his attempt to bag third victory in four games.
