2022 US Chess Championship Day 11 Results, Score, Winners, Standings, & Round 12 Schedule
After a tense 11th round of the 2022 US Chess Championship included three pivotal outcomes, tensions are at an all-time high in St. Louis. While leader Fabiano Caruana and second-placed Ray Robson drew their games, Sam Sevian defeated Dariusz Swiercz to move into third place. With only two rounds remaining, it is highly probable that one of these three will bag open division title since there is only one point separating first from third.
Since round seven, Caruana’s pace has slowed down, and he appears to prefer taking the professional route to win his second U.S. championship title by drawing. As the current leader, he has advanced without incident and is now sitting well with 7.5/11, but two players have been gaining ground on him and could threaten him in the next two matches. The other winners of the round were Hans Niemann and So, with the former living up to his interview claim that he had a decent opportunity to make a comeback based on advantageous pairings. Although the defending champion So’s victory over GM Elshan Moradiabadi was straightforward and a sign of regaining his form, the upswing came too late, and So can only attempt to finish strongly in a mainly forgettable tournament.
Meanwhile, women’s division leader Jennifer Yu and second-placed Irina Krush both scored impressive victories, making their matchup in round 12 the crucial match of this year’s tournament. In women’s division, Cervantes has become the third contender to stand out from the rest, much like the open division. Elsewhere, Yu declared that her game versus Krush must be viewed as a must-win matchup before their crucial matchup in round 12, and she is encouraged by her successful record against her toughest opponent to far.

2022 US Chess Championship Prize Money
Prize fund for the open division of the US Chess Championships in 2022 will total $262,000, while the prize fund for women’s division will total $160,500. The announcement states that winner of women’s division will receive $40,000 in prize money while the winner of open division will receive $60,000 in prize money.
