2022 US Chess Championship Day 1 Results, Score, Winners, Standings, & Day 2 Schedule

A potential upset in Caruana-Dominguez was put on hold after Leinier got off track due to time pressure. Levon Aronian’s debut against Alex Lenderman concluded in a draw after 17 moves, and reigning champion Wesley So quickly drew with wildcard Awonder Liang. Yoo vs Niemann, in contrast, was intriguing straight away since Christopher attempted to use own weapon of Niemann but owing to his strong will to win, Niemann was propelled towards a decisive victory.

On the first day of US Championships, So and Aronian agreed to an early draw while GM Ray Robson offered some entertainment by making Shankland’s game difficult before settling with a draw. The Women’s US Championship featured four decisive games, albeit there could have been more given that Nazi Paikidze narrowly lost to another previous Champion, Sabina Foisor, at the very last second while Irina Krush appeared to be well in control versus Tatev Abrahamyan.

During second round of matches at 2022 US Chess Championship, Hans Niemann will face Xiong Jeffery while reigning champion Wesley So will aim to bag his first win in the tournament against 15-year-old prodigy Christopher Yoo. In other matches, Levon Aronian will face-off against Dominguez.
